Alpina and NBBU develop new income insurance policy
Because of the new regulation, as a company you run the risk of having to continue paying temporary workers who become sick or disabled after July 1 until the end of their contract. Previously, temporary workers, in the first year of their employment, entered the Sickness Benefits Act after one day of illness and were thus out of employment. Now they remain employed during their contract period, even for contracts with an agency clause.
This means that as an employer you have to continue to pay your wages for 90% and you have to provide health and safety services, as described in the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter. You can now insure this financial risk. Together with NBBU, Alpina has developed a unique product that relieves employers of all their worries.
More risk requires different insurance
First of all, the advice is to offer temporary workers a series of consecutive temporary contracts lasting at least four weeks. Therefore, should the employee fall ill, the sickness period for the Sickness Benefits Act starts earlier as a result. Subsequently, the insurance covers the entire risk of the first two years of the Sickness Benefits Act. You can also cover the 20% supplement in the first year of illness and the 10% supplement in the second year.
The insurance also arranges the Occupational Health and Safety guidance through Alpina@Work from the first day of illness, so that the entire file of the sick employee is in one hand. The uniqueness of this Alpina insurance is that it is fully in line with the new rules as of July 1. But every situation is different. That's why the coverages are modular. You can choose what best suits your organization.
